The name of the band — Sequel — suggests more of the same, but this band is anything but that. In fact, the key word they use to describe themselves is “different.”
Yes, they are a bar band playing covers, and yes, they have each had plenty of experience repeating previous successes, in other bands. Bassist Jack Chamberlin said they loved rockin’ in bars, but were tired of the same old, same old. “We decided we wanted to play fun and interesting music that no one else in the area is doing,” he explained.
During one set at a recent show, Sequel played three songs JamBrain had never heard played in a bar and two others we didn’t recognize at all, by bands we knew. It was a refreshing experience. And their better known songs were remarkably true to the originals, honest and rockin’.
When was the last time you heard Kid Rock’s “All Summer Long” played live? Or Bon Jovi’s “Raise Your Hands,” or Ozzy’s “Over the Mountain”?
Drummer Carl Fife is the lead singer most of the time, but each of them takes a turn in front and singing backup. Donny Conti (“don’t let his looks fool you”) doesn’t look like a lead guitarist, but plays like one, and Jimmy Vass switch hits on keyboards, lead and rhythm guitar.
The true testament to their talent was the number of big-time area musicians who came out to watch Sequel play, and to join the jam.

Great article! Sequel is one of hottest bands in the area. You gotta see it for yourself!!
