If rock and roll is a menace to society’s morals, these guys are a Triple Threat. If rock is sweet, they’re a triple treat; sublime.
Triple Threat (Youngstown) is three veteran rockers trebling their talent and knocking the top off covers by everyone you ever wanted to hear in person.
It’s hard to believe, but after about five minutes of listening to them play, you don’t even notice the long blond hair of front man extraordinaire Rajma (McKenzie), his guitar playing and singing are so good. And just as amazing is that drummer Gary DePasquale and bassist/vocalist Butch McCracken are right with him the whole way; it’s amazing that they can be.
There is another local Triple Threat, out of Salem, with Philip Walls on guitar and vocals, Nick Balog doing bass and singing, and Luke Lenz playing drums. JamBrain hasn’t seen them yet.
As much skill as Triple Threat brings to the stage they match it with effort; somehow it’s even more convincing to see three guys dripping sweat playing music. They cover all kinds of stuff you’ll want to hear, rock and blues.
The greatest threat with them, in fact, is in NOT seeing them perform; Don’t miss it!
