Ever eager for elegance? Have a fancy for something fanciful? Interested in an intriguing interlude? Here’s a holiday hiatus: harpist Terri Miller at Canfield’s Piccadilly Parlour.
Claudia Zacharko’s Piccadilly Parlour is a delicately refined Victorian Tearoom on The Green in Canfield. Lace curtains. Linen napkins. Individual teapots. Decadent little teacakes and sandwiches served in triangles on fine china. And surprising hearty, homemade soups.
Two little girls, having a special occasion with mom and grannie and the very best aunt, pour their tea a tablespoon at a time, so to do it more often. When that thrill tempers, they’re off to the corner closet, to try on antique dresses and hats and feather boas, preening in the mirror, images from their imaginations. By then their lunches are ready; pinkies raised, dabbing at crumbs, and charming the ladies with such adult conversation.
To complete the happy atmosphere, the dulcet tones of Terri Miller’s harp softly serenading with Christmas carols and madrigal melodies.
Seasonal Saturdays.
